About FME
FME was founded in 1989 by Renilde Montessori, the youngest granddaughter of Dr. Maria Montessori. The Foundation was incorporated as a not-for-profit charitable organization, with the primary purpose of promoting Montessori education based on the work of Dr. Maria Montessori.
Through scientific observation, Dr. Montessori observed how children learn, and felt that education must meet their developmental needs and tendencies in order to be effective. She viewed education as an aid to life, and noted that education was a life long process. While Dr. Montessori made her discoveries in the early part of the 20th century, Montessori education continues to be respected and practiced internationally and is becoming increasingly relevant within the family as well as in educational institutions.
FME is the only course anywhere in Ontario to offer the Montessori diploma endorsed by Dr. Maria Montessori. We are also recognized by the Ministry of Education as a Private Career College.
