Welcome to the Foundation for Montessori Education. My name is Sandra Girlato and I am the Director of Training for the AMI Primary Course held at the Foundation.
I’m delighted that you are considering Dr. Montessori’s own course. This course has evolved since 1909 from Dr. Montessori’s ideas, philosophy and understanding of the child. It is the only course of its kind in Ontario. It is an AMI course, and that means that it is world renowned and sets a standard for Montessori Education across the globe. So much so that Dr. Montessori’s signature appears on every AMI Diploma. In fact, it is the only Montessori certification that Dr. Montessori deemed authentic enough to endorse with her name.
For over 100 years, Montessori’s courses have guided adults to be world class educators, and since 1929 the AMI Diploma has been the document that has represented that training.
We trust that every adult who will take the AMI course will be enriched intellectually, spiritually and socially, and rewarded with an outstanding career. Our graduates are often contracted for teaching positions even before the end of their training year. Employers from Canada, and abroad seek out our graduates because of their depth and breadth of knowledge with regard to human development, the child and education.
