The Foundation for Montessori Education instructs the adult not only in the marvel of the Montessori Method but it also encourages the adult to know themselves, their strengths, weaknesses, and the relationship with the mind, body and spirit. It is a training course that requires commitment, perseverance, patience and a true willingness to help the child in his quest to build a foundation that will contribute to his success in the future. It is an education that continues outside of the training centre and for years to come as the adult’s understanding of the method, child development and the needs of each individual child deepens with experience. It is an education that I am grateful to have had the opportunity to study; the trainers are immensely educated and dedicated to the philosophy and to your success. The people that I have had the privilege to embark upon this journey with have given me strength to continue throughout the course as well as the support to succeed personally and professionally. I have grown within myself and look forward to helping others grow with the knowledge that I have gained, primarily those who I have concentrated my efforts on, children, our gift, our future.
I, as someone New to Canada (immigrant), having experienced an education system that was based on the development of the ‘whole’ child, was eager to find something similar or even better. After a lot of research and attending several open houses, at last found the Foundation of Montessori Education and decided to join the course instantly. The course although extremely intense, is heartwarmingly gratifying. The instructors gently but unquestionably guide each student to achieve their very best and prepare them to understand the Montessori Method of education. I personally have found my ‘Professional Home’ and hope to be able to hold the torch of FME up high in all my endeavors.
The AMI training program is unlike any other. It starts you on a journey of self-awareness, opens you to the true nature and needs of the child and it creates a greater understanding of humanity as a whole. You will find that your eyes are opened to the beauty of the world surrounding you and to the truth that lies in the natural development of the child. It will assist you in understanding the value of hard work and it will inspire you to discover the joy of learning so you may facilitate that joy in children.
After graduating from a part-time Primary Teacher Training Course at another Montessori Institute in Toronto, and working with children for 4 years, I decided to join the AMI course to deepen my understanding of Montessori theory and practice. At the Foundation for Montessori Education, the training is thorough, intense and absolutely gratifying. The inspiring teachers put their hearts, dedication and profound knowledge to use everyday as they guide us and encourage us each step of the way. The Foundation for Montessori Education is, without a doubt, the best training centre there is, and it has been a wonderful experience which I will cherish always.
